L-Sit on Floor
The L-sit on the floor: the hands flat beside the hips press the body up and the straight legs hold level just off the floor, with no parallettes to give the heels room.
How to do it
Setup
Seated, legs straight together, hands flat on the floor beside the hips, fingers forward, arms straight.
Steps
- Press the floor away and lift the buttocks off it.
- Lift the straight legs until the heels clear the floor, toes pointed.
- Hold and breathe; time it.
Common mistakes
Shoulders shrugging to the ears: push down through the hands and lengthen the neck. Knees bending to clear the floor: keep them straight; tuck on purpose as the easier version. Leaning back to balance: keep the shoulders over the hands.
Breathing
Short steady breaths; never held.
