Kneeling Sartorius Stretch

The half-kneeling hip flexor stretch with the back foot swung OUT to the side; turning the back hip in reaches the sartorius.

How to do it

Setup

Half-kneeling, back knee down on a mat, front foot flat ahead, hands on the hips.

Steps

  1. Swing the back foot out to the side, knee staying down.
  2. Tuck the tailbone and press the back hip forward.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Arching the lower back to go further: tuck the tailbone first. Knee twisting on the floor as the foot swings: pad it and turn from the hip. Torso leaning forward: stay tall over the back knee.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
