Kneeling Plank

The plank with the knees on the floor instead of the toes; half the lever to hold, a first step toward the full plank.

How to do it

Setup

Knees behind the hips, forearms or hands under the shoulders, straight from head to knees.

Steps

  1. Tuck the tailbone slightly and tighten the abs.
  2. Hold the straight line from the ears to the knees.
  3. Hold for the time; move to the toes once it is easy.

Common mistakes

Hips pushed up and back: bring them down into the line. Lower back sagging: tighten the abs and glutes. Head hanging below the shoulders: gaze at the floor just ahead.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
