Kettlebell Step-Up
The step-up onto a bench holding one kettlebell by the horns at the chest; the front load keeps the torso upright on the climb.
How to do it
Setup
Facing a flat bench, a kettlebell held by the horns at the chest, the working foot on the bench.
Steps
- Stand up onto the bench through the front leg.
- Keep the bell tight to the chest at the top.
- Lower back down under control and alternate the leading leg.
Common mistakes
Bell drifting from the chest: it pulls the torso forward; hug it close. Bench too high for a clean step: the knee should not rise above the hip. Dropping off the bench: step down under control.
Breathing
Exhale stepping up, inhale down.
