Kettlebell Single-Arm Overhead Lunge

The lunge with one kettlebell locked out overhead, the bell resting on the back of the forearm; holding it steady over one shoulder makes the trunk fight a lean.

How to do it

Setup

One kettlebell pressed overhead, arm vertical and locked, the other hand free at the side.

Steps

  1. Take a long lunge step while the locked arm stays vertical.
  2. Lower the back knee toward the floor, eyes forward.
  3. Drive back up and switch the bell to the other hand between sets.

Common mistakes

Wrist bent back under the bell: stack the knuckles over the forearm. Torso leaning away from the weight: brace so the shoulders stay level. Elbow softening as the set goes on: lower the bell before the lockout slips.

Breathing

Inhale into the lunge, exhale driving up.
