Kettlebell Split Squat

The split squat with a kettlebell hanging in each hand; the bells hang close to the legs and let the torso stay upright.

How to do it

Setup

Kettlebells by the handles at the sides, arms long, feet a long stride apart.

Steps

  1. Drop the back knee, the bells hanging straight.
  2. Pause just before the knee touches down.
  3. Stand back up without moving the feet.

Common mistakes

Bells swinging into the legs: lower slowly so they hang still. Shoulders rolling forward under the load: blades back, chest open. Back knee slamming the floor: stop just above it.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
