Isometric Chest Squeeze

Stand tall, raise the arms in front to chest height and press the palms together as hard as you can; a squeeze held for time, with no weight.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, arms relaxed at the sides.

Steps

  1. Raise the arms in front to chest height, elbows soft.
  2. Press the palms together as hard as you can and hold.
  3. Hold and breathe, time the squeeze, then lower the arms.

Common mistakes

Palms merely touching: the squeeze is the whole exercise; press hard. Shoulders creeping up to the ears: keep them down, chest tall. Holding the breath to squeeze harder: breathe steadily through it.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
