Iso-Lateral Machine Row

Each arm rows its own lever, so neither side can cover for the other.

Iso-Lateral Machine Row, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Chest on the pad, one handle in each hand, arms long.

Steps

  1. Row both levers back together, or one at a time.
  2. Squeeze each blade fully.
  3. Return long and even.

Common mistakes

The strong side finishing early: match the weaker arm's tempo. Rotating toward a single working arm: chest square on the pad. Loading levers unevenly: check both sides' plates.

Breathing

Exhale on the row, inhale returning.
