Inverted Row with Bent Knee between Chairs

The chair inverted row with the knees bent and the feet flat; the legs share the load, making it the easiest way into rows at home.

How to do it

Setup

A sturdy stick across the backs of two heavy chairs, lying under it with the arms straight, knees bent, feet flat, hips up.

Steps

  1. Pull the chest to the stick with the hips staying up.
  2. Squeeze the shoulder blades at the top.
  3. Lower slowly with the hips still lifted.

Common mistakes

Chairs shifting under the pull: pull straight up and keep them heavy. Hips dropping: knees, hips and shoulders stay in one line. Pushing with the legs: the feet anchor, the back works.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
