Inverted Row between Chairs
The inverted row at home: a sturdy stick laid across the backs of two chairs, lying under it with the legs straight and the heels down.
How to do it
Setup
Two sturdy chairs back to back a shoulder-width-plus apart, a stick across their tops, lying under it with the arms straight and the heels on the floor.
Steps
- Pull the chest to the stick, keeping the body straight.
- Squeeze the shoulder blades together at the top.
- Lower yourself slowly to straight arms.
Common mistakes
Chairs tipping toward you: use heavy chairs and pull straight up, not back toward the seats. A stick that bends: test it with your weight first. Hips sagging: brace and keep the line.
Breathing
Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
