Inverted Row on Bench
The inverted row with the heels raised on a bench so the body hangs level; the flat angle makes it harder than rowing with the heels on the floor.
How to do it
Setup
Bar at arm's reach, heels up on a bench, body level from heels to shoulders, hands a little wider than the shoulders.
Steps
- Pull the chest to the bar, elbows past the ribs.
- Squeeze the shoulder blades together at the top.
- Lower to straight arms, holding the level line.
Common mistakes
Hips dropping below the bench line: squeeze the glutes and shorten the set. Heels creeping off the bench: set them firmly before the first pull. Half reps near the bar: straight arms at the bottom every time.
Breathing
Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
