High Bar Inverted Row
The inverted row under a bar set at chest height, the body steeply inclined with the heels down; the upright angle makes it the lightest bar row.
How to do it
Setup
Bar at about chest height, heels on the floor a step in front of it, body straight and leaning back, arms straight.
Steps
- Pull the chest to the bar, elbows past the ribs.
- Squeeze the shoulder blades at the top.
- Lower back to straight arms with the body straight.
Common mistakes
Standing too close to the bar: the row turns into a shrug; walk the heels forward. Hips folding back: squeeze the glutes and keep the line. Making it too easy forever: lower the bar as the reps come.
Breathing
Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
