Inchworm and Mountain Climbers

Walk the hands out to a plank as in the inchworm, add a run of mountain climbers, then walk the hands back and stand.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Fold forward and walk the hands out to a high plank.
  2. Drive the knees in turn for a few climbers.
  3. Walk the hands back to the feet and stand tall.

Common mistakes

Hips sagging when the climbers start: brace the plank first. Hands landing far ahead of the shoulders: stop the walk-out with them under the shoulders. Rounding up to stand: roll up through a long spine.

Breathing

Breathe steadily; exhale on the knee drives.
