Half Squat Side Reach

Holding a wide half squat with the hands behind the head, bend to one side and slide that hand down toward the knee, then the other.

How to do it

Setup

Wide stance, toes turned out, sunk to a half squat, fingers laced behind the head.

Steps

  1. Bend sideways, sliding one hand down toward the knee on that side.
  2. Keep the squat still and the other elbow pointing up.
  3. Return upright, the hand back behind the head, and bend the other way.

Common mistakes

Rising out of the squat as you bend: hold the depth the whole set. Leaning forward instead of sideways: bend in line with the shoulders. Knees caving in: keep them over the toes.

Breathing

Exhale bending, inhale rising.
