Forearms Stand Yoga Pose Pincha Mayurasana
An inversion on the forearms with the body stacked straight above the elbows; learn it with the heels near a wall.
How to do it
Setup
Kneeling facing a wall, forearms parallel and shoulder-width on the floor, fingertips a hand's width from it.
Steps
- Lift the hips and walk the feet in until the hips are over the shoulders.
- Raise one straight leg and push off the other to bring both up to the wall.
- Hold with the forearms pressing down, then lower one leg at a time.
Common mistakes
Elbows splaying wider than the shoulders: keep the forearms parallel; a strap above the elbows helps. Shoulders sinking toward the floor: press the elbows down and lift out of the shoulders. Kicking up hard: rise with control; the wall only catches the heels.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
