Pike Stand
Feet on a box and hands on the floor, the hips fold up over the shoulders into a pike and hold; a step toward the handstand with the legs still supported.
How to do it
Setup
In a decline plank, toes on top of a box, hands on the floor shoulder-width.
Steps
- Walk the hands back toward the box as the hips rise.
- Stop with the hips stacked over the shoulders, arms straight and the head between them.
- Hold and breathe, then walk the hands out to the plank and step down.
Common mistakes
Bent arms: lock the elbows and push the floor away. Shoulders sinking toward the ears: push tall through the hands so the shoulders open. Walking in further than you can hold: stop where the shoulders stay stacked and steady.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
