Elbow Flexor Stretch
A straight arm grips a doorframe or a fixed pole at shoulder height, and the chest turns away until the front of the arm stretches from shoulder to forearm; held for time.
How to do it
Setup
Standing side-on to a doorframe or a pole, one arm straight at shoulder height, the hand gripping it with the thumb up.
Steps
- Keep the elbow and the wrist straight throughout.
- Turn the chest slowly away from the arm until its front stretches.
- Hold and breathe, then switch arms.
Common mistakes
Bending the elbow: the stretch disappears; keep it straight. Squeezing the upright hard: a firm but relaxed grip lets the forearm stretch too. Twisting fast into the shoulder: turn slowly and stop at the pull in the arm.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
