Forward Bend Back Stretch

Fingers laced behind the back, fold forward and let the straight arms fall over the head; the chest, shoulders and hamstrings stretch.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, feet hip-width, fingers laced behind the back, arms straight.

Steps

  1. Fold forward from the hips, knees soft.
  2. Let the clasped arms drop toward the floor over the head by their own weight.
  3. Hold and breathe, then bend the knees and roll up slowly.

Common mistakes

Pulling the arms over with force: let them fall by their own weight. Locked knees: keep them soft to spare the lower back. Standing up fast: bend the knees and rise slowly.

Breathing

Exhale on the way down, then breathe evenly in the hold.
