Humble Warrior Pose

From the Warrior I lunge, the hands clasp behind the back and the torso bows down inside the front knee while the arms lift overhead; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

A Warrior I stance, front knee bent over the ankle, back foot angled in, fingers laced behind the back.

Steps

  1. Open the chest and draw the clasped hands away from the back.
  2. Bow the torso down inside the front knee, the arms lifting overhead, and hold.
  3. Rise slowly with the chest leading, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Coming up fast with the head low: rise slowly, chest first, to avoid dizziness. Front knee drifting inward: keep it over the ankle and outside the shoulder. Forcing the arms overhead: lift only as far as the shoulders allow, with a strap between the hands if needed.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
