Arms Stretch on a Support

Half-kneeling with the back to wall bars, both straight arms hold a rung behind at shoulder height; the chest and the fronts of the shoulders open.

How to do it

Setup

Half-kneeling a short step in front of wall bars, back to them, hands gripping a rung behind at shoulder height.

Steps

  1. Keep the arms straight and the grip wide.
  2. Press the chest forward and up until the fronts of the shoulders stretch.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch the front leg.

Common mistakes

Shoulders rolling forward: draw the blades together before the chest goes forward. Arching the lower back instead: keep the ribs down and move from the upper back. Gripping a rung above the shoulders: hold at shoulder height, no higher.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
