Dumbbell Standing Hands Torsion

Standing with a dumbbell hanging upright in front of the hips, both hands grip its top end and twist it one way and the other, the forearms doing the wringing.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, a dumbbell hanging upright in front of the hips, both hands gripping its top end, elbows slightly bent.

Steps

  1. Twist the dumbbell one way, the hands turning in opposite directions.
  2. Twist it back the other way.
  3. Keep the arms still; the forearms and the grip do the work.

Common mistakes

Swinging the bell with the shoulders: the upper arms stay still at the sides. Loosening the grip between twists: hold it tight the whole set. Hunching over the bell: stand tall, shoulders down.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
