Dumbbell Standing Around World
Straight arms carry light dumbbells from the thighs out through the sides until they meet overhead, then back down the same wide arc, standing.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, feet hip-width, light bells at the thighs, arms straight, palms facing in.
Steps
- Sweep the bells out to the sides and on up until they meet overhead.
- Keep the arms long and the ribs down through the whole arc.
- Lower them back to the thighs along the same path.
Common mistakes
Heavy bells: on long arms any weight is heavy at shoulder height; go light. Bending the elbows to get through the middle: keep the arms long. Arching the back as the bells go overhead: brace and keep the ribs down.
Breathing
Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
