Dumbbell Single-Leg Deadlift with Wall Support

The kickstand single-leg deadlift with a dumbbell in each hand and the back foot's toes resting against a wall behind for balance.

How to do it

Setup

A short step in front of a wall, weight on the front foot, the back foot's toes against the wall, a dumbbell in each hand.

Steps

  1. Hinge at the hips and lower the bells along the front shin, back flat.
  2. Keep the weight in the front heel; the back toes only steady you.
  3. Drive the hips forward to stand; finish the set, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Pushing off the wall: the back foot only touches; the front leg does the work. Rounding to reach lower: stop where the back stays flat. Front knee locking straight: keep it softly bent.

Breathing

Inhale hinging, exhale standing.
