Single-Leg Deadlift with Knee Lift
The bodyweight single-leg deadlift that stands up into a high knee: hinge with the free leg reaching back, then drive that knee up in front.
How to do it
Setup
Standing on one leg, knee soft, the other foot just off the floor, arms hanging.
Steps
- Hinge forward, the free leg extending straight back and the hands reaching toward the floor.
- Drive the hips forward to stand, swinging the free knee up to hip height.
- Pause balanced on the standing leg, then hinge into the next rep.
Common mistakes
Rounding the back to touch the floor: stop where the hamstrings run out of length. Free leg turning out as it goes back: toes point at the floor so the hips stay level. Throwing the knee up before standing tall: finish the hip drive, then lift the knee.
Breathing
Inhale hinging, exhale standing.
