Single-Leg Foot Touch

Standing on one leg, hinge forward and reach the hands down to the standing foot while the free leg rises behind; a bodyweight single-leg hinge.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on one foot, the standing knee soft, arms relaxed in front, the other foot just off the floor.

Steps

  1. Hinge at the hip, reaching the hands toward the standing foot as the free leg lifts behind.
  2. Touch the foot or the floor beside it, back flat.
  3. Drive the standing hip forward to rise; switch legs after the set.

Common mistakes

Rounding the back to reach the foot: touch the shin instead and keep it flat. Hips opening toward the free leg: point both hip bones at the floor. Standing knee locked: keep it slightly bent.

Breathing

Inhale hinging, exhale standing.
