Dumbbell Seated Biceps Curl to Shoulder Press

Seated with back support, curl both dumbbells to the shoulders, turn the palms forward and press them overhead; one rep chains the curl and the press.

How to do it

Setup

Seated upright on a bench with a backrest, feet flat, dumbbells hanging at the sides, palms forward.

Steps

  1. Curl both bells to the shoulders.
  2. Turn the palms forward and press the bells overhead.
  3. Lower to the shoulders, then uncurl to the sides.

Common mistakes

Arching the lower back off the pad to press: ribs down, back against the backrest. Pressing before the curl is finished: bells at the shoulders first, then up. Letting the bells drop from overhead: lower them under control to the shoulders.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl and again on the press, inhale lowering.
