Kettlebell Sumo High Pull

From a wide sumo stance, pull one kettlebell held in both hands from between the feet up to the chest, the elbows leading high.

How to do it

Setup

Wide sumo stance, toes out, one kettlebell on the floor between the feet, both hands on its handle, back flat.

Steps

  1. Stand up hard, driving through the heels.
  2. Carry the pull on with the arms, elbows high, the bell rising to the chest.
  3. Lower the bell back between the feet under control.

Common mistakes

Lifting with the arms first: the legs start the bell moving. Elbows dropping below the hands: lead with the elbows. Rounding the back at the bottom: hinge with a flat back to reach the bell.

Breathing

Inhale at the bottom, exhale through the pull.
