Dumbbell Rear Lateral Raise (Support Head)

The bent-over rear delt raise with the forehead resting on an incline bench; the support holds the torso still.

How to do it

Setup

Hinged over, forehead on the top of an incline bench, bells hanging under the chest.

Steps

  1. Open the arms out to the sides until level with the back.
  2. Keep the forehead light on the pad.
  3. Lower slowly until the bells hang again.

Common mistakes

Pressing the head into the pad: it is a rest, not a lever. Rowing with bent elbows: soft, fixed elbows; the arms open wide. Bells rising past the back: shoulder line is the top.

Breathing

Exhale opening the arms, inhale lowering.
