Dumbbell One-Arm Lunge

The forward lunge with a single dumbbell held at one shoulder; the uneven load asks the trunk to stay upright.

How to do it

Setup

One dumbbell racked at the shoulder, elbow under it, the other arm free.

Steps

  1. Lunge forward, the bell pinned to the shoulder.
  2. Keep the shoulders level as the hips sink.
  3. Return; switch arms after the set.

Common mistakes

Bell sliding off the shoulder: elbow under it, grip firm. Leaning away from the weight: shoulders level, ribs down. Back knee dropping hard: lower it to a hover.

Breathing

Inhale stepping in, exhale pushing back.
