Dumbbell Front Rack Lunge

The forward lunge with two dumbbells resting on the front of the shoulders; the racked bells keep the torso upright.

How to do it

Setup

Dumbbells on the fronts of the shoulders, elbows forward, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Step forward and sink straight down.
  2. Hold the bells still on the shoulders as you drop.
  3. Stand back up, bells still racked.

Common mistakes

Elbows dropping: the bells roll forward and the chest follows; elbows up. Torso pitching forward on the step: land tall, then lower. Arching the lower back under the load: ribs down, brace.

Breathing

Inhale stepping in, exhale pushing back.
