Dumbbell One-Arm Decline Chest Press

The decline dumbbell press with a single bell; the free side gives the trunk a twist to resist while the chest presses.

How to do it

Setup

Decline bench, legs hooked under the pads, one dumbbell at the side of the lower chest.

Steps

  1. Press the bell up over the lower chest until the arm is straight.
  2. Keep both shoulders pinned to the bench.
  3. Lower slowly to the side of the chest; switch arms after the set.

Common mistakes

Working shoulder lifting off the bench: pin both blades down. Bell drifting toward the face: on a decline it stays over the lower chest. Getting on and off the bench with the bell held high: start and finish with it close to the chest.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
