Dumbbell Narrow-Stance Squat

The dumbbell squat with the feet close together; the narrow stance keeps the knees tracking straight ahead and loads the front of the thighs.

How to do it

Setup

Feet close together, toes forward, a dumbbell hanging at each side.

Steps

  1. Squat down with the knees traveling straight over the toes.
  2. Keep the bells hanging beside the feet and the chest up.
  3. Stand up through the whole foot, knees still together.

Common mistakes

Heels rising as the knees go forward: stop where they stay down. Knees drifting apart: the narrow stance keeps them together; hold it. Torso folding to reach depth: stop at the depth the chest allows.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
