Dumbbell Lunge with Bicep Curl

A forward lunge that carries a curl: the dumbbells rise to the shoulders as the back knee drops and come down as you push back to standing.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, a dumbbell in each hand at the sides, palms forward.

Steps

  1. Step forward into a lunge while curling both bells to the shoulders.
  2. Back knee just above the floor, front shin near vertical.
  3. Push back to standing as the bells lower; alternate legs.

Common mistakes

Front knee caving in: track it over the toes. Curling so hard the torso leans back: keep the chest over the hips. Short step that drives the knee past the toes: step long enough to keep the front shin upright.

Breathing

Exhale as the bells rise, inhale as they lower.
