Dumbbell Bicep Curl Lunge with Bowling Motion

A forward lunge joined to a curl: the curled dumbbells swing down in front of the lead knee as you step, like a bowler's delivery, and curl back to the shoulders as you return.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, dumbbells held at the shoulders with the elbows bent.

Steps

  1. Step forward into a lunge, lowering the bells in front of the lead knee.
  2. Back knee just above the floor, chest up.
  3. Push back to standing and curl the bells to the shoulders; alternate legs.

Common mistakes

Rounding the back as the bells reach down: hinge a little but keep the chest proud. Bells dropping freely: lower them under control. Front knee caving: track it over the toes.

Breathing

Inhale into the lunge, exhale standing and curling.
