Dumbbell Kneeling Arnold Press
The Arnold press kneeling tall on both knees; the legs cannot help, so the glutes and trunk hold the body upright while the palms turn out.
How to do it
Setup
Kneeling tall on a pad, hips over the knees, dumbbells in front of the shoulders with the palms facing you.
Steps
- Press both bells up, turning the palms forward as they rise.
- Lock out overhead with the hips still over the knees.
- Lower with the reverse turn until the palms face you again.
Common mistakes
Arching the lower back as the bells go up: squeeze the glutes, ribs down. Sinking back toward the heels: stay tall on the knees. Turning the palms only at the top: the turn runs through the whole press.
Breathing
Exhale on the press, inhale lowering.
