Dumbbell Iron Cross

From a squat with the bells held in front at shoulder height, stand and sweep the straight arms out into a cross.

How to do it

Setup

Squat low, bells held in front at shoulder height, arms straight.

Steps

  1. Stand up as the arms sweep out to the sides.
  2. Finish tall with the arms in a straight cross at shoulder height.
  3. Bring the arms back in front as you squat again.

Common mistakes

Arms dropping below shoulder height: the cross stays level; lighter bells. Knees caving in the squat: track them over the toes. Chest folding forward at the bottom: keep it tall.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
