Dumbbell Incline One-Arm Lateral Raise

Side-lying on an incline bench, the top arm lifts the bell from the thigh to straight up; the start is the hardest part.

How to do it

Setup

Side-on against an incline bench, the bell at the top thigh.

Steps

  1. Raise the straight arm out and up until it points at the ceiling.
  2. Keep the torso still against the bench.
  3. Lower to the thigh; switch sides after the set.

Common mistakes

Rolling back off the bench: stack the hips and shoulders. Bending the elbow as the bell rises: long arm, lighter bell. Dropping the bell to the thigh: lower as slowly as you lift.

Breathing

Exhale raising, inhale lowering.
