Dumbbell Goblet Sumo Squat
The sumo squat holding one dumbbell upright at the chest instead of hanging between the legs; the front load keeps the torso upright in the wide stance.
How to do it
Setup
Wide stance, toes turned out, one dumbbell held upright against the chest.
Steps
- Sit straight down, knees pushed out over the toes.
- Keep the elbows inside the knees and the chest tall.
- Stand up squeezing the inner thighs and glutes.
Common mistakes
Knees drifting inside the feet at the bottom: spread them over the little toes. Bell pulling the chest down: hold it high and close. Hips drifting back like a box squat: sit down between the knees, not behind them.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
