Dumbbell Biceps Curl

Both dumbbells curled together from the thighs to the shoulders, palms up; unlike the alternating curl, neither arm rests between reps.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, a dumbbell in each hand at the thighs, palms forward, elbows at the sides.

Steps

  1. Curl both bells up to the shoulders at the same time.
  2. Keep the elbows beside the ribs; only the forearms travel.
  3. Lower both to straight arms before the next rep.

Common mistakes

Rocking the hips to start the rep: stand still and pick lighter bells. Elbows sliding forward at the top: the front of the shoulder takes over; keep them by the ribs. One bell lagging behind: both arms travel together, and the weaker one sets the pace.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
