Downward Facing Dog Toe Touch
From the downward dog, one hand reaches back to the opposite ankle and returns, sides alternating; the hips stay high and square.
How to do it
Setup
Downward dog: hands shoulder-width, hips high, legs long, heels reaching down.
Steps
- Reach one hand back to the opposite ankle, or the shin.
- Keep the hips high and level, the supporting arm straight.
- Return the hand and reach with the other.
Common mistakes
Hips twisting open to reach further: touch the shin, hips square. Knees bending as the hand leaves: legs long, reach less. Supporting shoulder sagging: push the floor away.
Breathing
Exhale on each reach, inhale returning.
