Decline Pike Press (Between Benches)
The between-benches pike press with the feet raised on a box as well; the torso nears vertical, so a larger share of the body's weight is pressed.
How to do it
Setup
Hands on two benches shoulder-width apart, feet on a box behind them, hips high over the shoulders.
Steps
- Bend the elbows and lower the crown of the head between the benches.
- Keep the hips stacked high over the shoulders.
- Press back to straight arms.
Common mistakes
Box so high the hips fold past the shoulders: lower it until the torso stays straight. Elbows splaying wide: bend them back toward the feet. Dropping fast into the gap: lower slowly and stop short of any pinch in the shoulders.
Breathing
Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
