Chest Tap Push-Up
A push-up with a tap at the top: one hand leaves the floor and touches the opposite side of the chest, alternating, while the other arm holds the plank alone.
How to do it
Setup
High plank, hands under the shoulders, feet wider than for a normal push-up.
Steps
- Lower the chest to just above the floor and press back up.
- Lift one hand and tap the OPPOSITE side of the chest.
- Put it back and tap with the other hand after the next push-up.
Common mistakes
Hips swinging toward the lifted hand: wider feet and a braced trunk keep them still. Slapping the chest in a hurry: a light, controlled tap. Short push-ups to get to the tap sooner: full depth every rep.
Breathing
Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
