Calf Push Stretch with Hands Against Wall
Facing a wall with the hands on it, the front foot's toes go up against the wall and the hips push forward; the calf of the straight front leg stretches.
How to do it
Setup
Facing a wall, hands on it at shoulder height, the front heel on the floor near it and the toes up against the wall, the other foot a step behind.
Steps
- Keep the front knee straight and the toes on the wall.
- Push the hips toward the wall until the front calf stretches.
- Hold and breathe, then switch legs.
Common mistakes
Front heel sliding back from the wall: set it close so the toes stay high. Front knee bending: the straight leg is what reaches the upper calf. Arching the lower back to push: move the hips forward with the trunk upright.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
