Feet and Ankles Stretch

Seated with the legs long, point both feet away, then pull them back toward the shins; the calves and shins stretch in turn.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on the floor, legs long and together, hands on the floor behind the hips.

Steps

  1. Point the toes away as far as the ankles go.
  2. Pull the toes back toward the shins, heels pushing away.
  3. Keep alternating slowly, knees straight.

Common mistakes

Bending the knees as the toes come back: keep the legs long so the calves stretch. Curling the toes hard when pointing: point through the ankle. Rushing: slow changes, a short pause at each end.

Breathing

Steady with the rhythm.
