Cable Standing Wrist Curl

The standing wrist curl with a straight bar on a low pulley, palms forward and arms long; the cable pulls the bar toward the stack the whole way.

How to do it

Setup

Standing facing the low pulley, underhand grip on the bar at hip width, arms hanging straight.

Steps

  1. Curl the bar up with the wrists, elbows locked.
  2. Pause when the wrists are fully bent.
  3. Straighten the wrists slowly as the bar returns.

Common mistakes

Standing too far away: the cable drags the arms forward; step in. Turning it into a biceps curl: the elbows never bend. Shoulders leaning toward the stack: stay upright.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
