Cable Shoulder Press
The standing overhead press between two low pulleys, a handle in each hand; the cables load the shoulders all the way up.
How to do it
Setup
Standing centered between two low pulleys, handles at the shoulders, palms forward.
Steps
- Press both handles overhead until the arms are straight.
- Keep the ribs down and the hips still as the arms rise.
- Lower the handles to shoulder height under control.
Common mistakes
Standing off-center: one cable pulls harder; step to the middle. Arching the lower back to finish: brace the trunk and squeeze the glutes. Letting the cables pull the arms down: lower as slowly as you press.
Breathing
Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
