Dumbbell Incline Shoulders Press
The dumbbell overhead press lying back on a steep incline; steeper than a chest press, lower than the seated press.
How to do it
Setup
Back on a steeply inclined bench, bells at the shoulders, palms forward, feet planted.
Steps
- Press the bells up until the arms are straight above the head.
- Keep the head and the upper back on the bench.
- Lower the bells to the shoulders under control.
Common mistakes
Bench set too low: a shallow incline turns it into a chest press; set it steep. Lower back arching off the pad: plant the feet and brace. Elbows flaring straight out at the bottom: keep them slightly in front of the body.
Breathing
Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
