Cable Lying Face Pull
The face pull lying face up on a flat bench under a high pulley, the rope pulled from straight arms down to the forehead.
How to do it
Setup
Lying face up on a flat bench, head toward the stack, the rope held above the face on straight arms.
Steps
- Pull the rope down to the forehead, elbows opening wide toward the floor.
- Keep the back and head on the bench throughout.
- Straighten the arms back toward the pulley with control.
Common mistakes
Bench set away from the pulley: the cable should drop straight over the face; move under it. Elbows drifting toward the ribs: open them wide as the rope comes down. Lifting the head to meet the rope: it stays on the bench.
Breathing
Exhale on the pull, inhale on the return.
