Cable Lateral Raise

Both arms raised out to the sides between two low pulleys, the cables crossed in front; the cables keep tension where dumbbells lose it, at the bottom.

How to do it

Setup

Stand midway between two low pulleys, cables crossed in front, each hand holding the handle from the opposite side.

Steps

  1. Raise both arms out to the sides to shoulder height.
  2. Lead with the elbows, hands just below them.
  3. Lower slower than the lift, the handles crossing back in front.

Common mistakes

Leaning back to haul the handles: stand tall; the cables already load the bottom. Shrugging: blades down. One arm rising ahead of the other: both hands arrive together.

Breathing

Exhale opening the arms, inhale lowering.
