Cable Front Shoulder Raise

A front raise between two low pulleys: the straight arms rise from beside the thighs and meet in front at shoulder height against the cables from each side.

How to do it

Setup

Standing between two low pulleys in a short split stance, a handle in each hand beside the thighs.

Steps

  1. Raise both straight arms forward and in until the hands meet at shoulder height.
  2. Pause with the arms level, shoulders down.
  3. Lower the hands back beside the thighs along the same arc.

Common mistakes

Starting with the arms wide: begin by the thighs; this is a raise, not a crossover fly. Hands rising above the shoulders: stop level. Rocking the torso to start the rep: brace in the split stance.

Breathing

Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
